After some quick math and civics lessons, we stopped at a post office to mail out some 50skatekid T-shirts. The clerk asked Logan, “Why aren’t you in school?” I reflexively replied, “This is school,” since we were in the middle of a class about e-commerce. We answered her follow-up questions: liquid or perishable, insurance, tracking, shipping rates. Somehow we got to talking with Wendy about her own passion, gemology! She’d even been to Ruggle’s Mine, a stone’s throw from our home! She suggested that we stop at Little Switzerland when we visit North Carolina, and we parted ways.

She reminded me of the admonition that ‘from every human interaction, we leave something behind.’  And conversely, we also take something away. Thanks, Wendy for enriching our day!
