FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. “How does your wife feel about all this?”

She is completely behind it.  She was part of the brainstorming session that spawned the idea, and hasn’t flinched since then.  She is convinced it’s the right thing to do, but just wishes she could come along.  We video conference as often as we can (free, with skype ), and she ships out whatever we sell at our on-line store.

2. “How are you paying for this?”

Good question. We are keeping expenses very low.  We’ll be eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Cheerios, and whatever is put in front of us by kind hosts!  We’ll be sleeping on friendly couches when we’re lucky, and in a tent when we’re not.  The 50skatekidmobile is a subcompact that gets 40 mpg on the highway.  With all these cost-saving measures, we hope to sell enough T-shirts, etc. to keep going.  It’s all part of the educational experience – how to manage a balance sheet and make financial decisions.

3. What is your schedule?

We are basically chasing the weather and making it up as we go along. See the map – plan page for the latest info.

4. Are you doing this along with some organized group?

Nope. We are a group of two people, and we’re not very organized.

5. How did you come up with this idea?

This question is best answered by this video clip of a presentation Logan gave to a fifth grade class in Wyoming.

For a longer answer, read a section of the book.

Matt, I just read about your adventure. I had no idea. Very cool! I know people near Jackson, WY who would be happy to put you up for a few nights and show you the sights. I know that is not for a while.

So happy for you. What an adventure. Best education your son can get! Be safe. Happy travels.

    Lori
